The Birmingham Sperm Bank has been set up to deal with a regional and National need for more sperm donors.
Over 500 donors a year are required across the UK to help people have the child they desire. Over 1 in 6 couples across the UK require fertility treatment, and a subset of these require donor sperm.
This may be because the man makes no sperm, has had treatment for something such as cancer that rendered him sterile, or because he has a serious genetic disease he does not wish to pass on to his children. Single women and same sex couples also may wish to use a sperm donor to have children.
We work in partnership with the National Gamete Donation Trust and are licensed by the HFEA, providing you with the reassurance that we employ best practice across all our services.
